Materials and Equipment

Do not use metal! It is necessary to stick with glass, wood and plastic materials when handling the kefir grains. Stainless steel or any other type of metals are not recommended. Below will be a list of essential equipment and utensils needed for kefir milk:

  • 1 L or larger Glass Mason Jar (for fermenting)
  • Wood or Plastic Spoon
  • Nylon Strainer
  • Plastic or Glass Jug
  • Another 1L or larger Glass Container / Jug / Mason Jar (for storing your kefir milk)
  • Distilled or Filtered Water (DO NOT USE TAP WATER)
