Goat & Cow Milk
We always use 3.8% or higher organic milk for our grains; however, you can use 2% or more, this is up to your preference.
- Make sure the milk is NOT lactose-free
- A Higher percentage of fat in milk (whole, 3.8% / 3.25%) is preferred.
- Skim or low-fat milk will work, but it is not the best for the grains. The grains prefer the full range of nutrition found in whole milk.
- If you prefer using skim or low fat for your kefir milk, the only thing that you need to do is to switch back to whole milk every so often (every 4 batches).
